The Yukon Kennel Club hosted a "Poop Scoop" for dogs owners and the general public along the Millennium Trail on Sunday afternoon. "The message we are conveying is that canine owners must be respon-sible for their pets and clean up after them," the club said in a statement. "This event is part of Responsible Dog Ownership Group." That initia-tive of the Canadian Kennel Club intended to encompass dogs and dog owners across Canada. "As experienced and knowl-edgeable dog enthusiasts, we come together as members to support the dog-owning public by educating those owners in the responsibilities associated with bringing a dog into the home," the Yukon club said. "This commitment brings with it significant responsibility - to the dog, the family and to the greater com-munity in which you live. "From evaluating your readiness for a new dog, through determining the breed that is right for you, from integrating the dog into the home through advice on health, training and canine good citizenship, YKC mem-bers provide the support, advice and guidance to families interested in canine companionship to better enable Canadians to be responsible dogs owners "Remember to stoop and poop."
